What we do:
Leeward Support Services Section in Nanakuli-Waianae primarily supports and collaborates with the complex area schools in the priority area of special education. We train NW's special education support staff and field questions that are related to the Individual with Disabilities Education improvement Act (IDEIA), Hawaii Administrative Rules Chapter 60-Provisions of a Free and Appropriate Education for Students with Disabilities, the electronic Comprehensive Student Support System (eCSSS), and evidence-based teaching practices.
We assist NW schools in the following areas (including, but not limited to):

  • Standards-Based Individualized Education Plan (IEP) writing and implementation
  • Attend Peer Reviews, SFTs, IEP, Specialty Area (AT, Post-High) Meetings

  • Specially Designed Instruction
  • Evidence-Based Instructional Strategies for Students with Disabilities
