HOʻĀLA ASSISTANCE PROGRAM FUNDED BY THE HAWAII RESILIENCE FUND

The purpose of the Hoʻāla Assistance Program is to provide one-time emergency financial assistance (up to $1000 per household) to Hawaiʻi residents facing hardship due to the COVID-19 pandemic. HRF is made possible through a partnership between the Council for Native Hawaiian Advancement, Hawaiʻi Community Foundation, and Pierre & Pam Omidyar. Welcome Mr. Sione Thompson, NW Deputy CAS

Mr. Sione Thompson was confirmed unanimously by the BOE on Thursday, February 20, 2020 and officially started on Friday, February 21, 2020. Mr Thompson was the former Executive Director of the Hawaii State Public Charter School Commission and brings with him vast leadership experience, a disposition of aloha and a true sense of laulima-- that it takes a community to support and guide our haumana to success. He will have this opportunity as Deputy CAS to immerse himself into getting to know our schools, complex area operations and initiatives before he steps into the NW CAS role on July 1, 2020.

Wai`anae High School Teacher Receives National Award

For Dedication and High Level of Achievement
HOMEGROWN graduate of Wai’anae High School Class of 1997, John Allen, Video Production Teacher and Creative Director pioneer for the Searider Production program for over 20 years, is recognized by the Student Television Network (STN) as the National Teacher of the Year.  This March, Mr. Allen will be presented with the award at the annual STN Convention being held in Washington, D.C. Congratulations Mr. Allen!
